..in a split second
‘Hey you are looking quite good today!’ Sarah remarked
‘Ha-ha thank you so much, oh I have to go to my tailor right now, I’ll talk to you later’ she informed hurriedly, gave a naughty smile and ran to her car. Ignited the engine and stealthily glanced herself in the mirror; jus to check if she was actually looking ‘quite good’ today and beamed at the silly yet amusing thought.
She reached the market; somehow she felt a paroxysm of confidence in her, a strange feeling she never had before.
‘Is it because of Sarah’s compliment…no I don’t think so’ she denied.
She was gaily running to the shop, the world felt so perfect to her, everything was so well balanced and serene; she had no care in the world. She had had a great day; and Sarah’s flattering remark just made it the best.
‘No put this button here, I’m sure it is ‘in’ the fashion’
‘Bibi jee, it will look odd here I think this lace should be in its place’ the tailor suggested
‘Um…no I don’t think so, do as I say, okay? And yes, I want these clothes by Monday, is that clear?’
‘Jee bibi jee’
‘Good.’
She was so engrossed in her work, she had no idea what was happening around. When her designing finished she glanced out side the window pane and found herself staring at a stranger, a total stranger, a good-looking stranger a stranger who too, was gawking at her and until he disappeared from view she was too perturbed to do anything else.
A person whom she did not know had made her feel so special; he left a grave image on her brain. She couldn’t let his naughty eyes flee out of her mind; she was unable to erase the image of that smile, the smile which was fascinatingly familiar for her, a smile that was to be in her dreams forever. Was it an illusion? What did just happen? Who was he? Why did he beam at me? Would I ever be able to forget him? Inane yet intriguing questions rang in her mind; she knew the answers but didn't want to admit. His eyes, those deep eyes …met hers in such a hurried but wonderful way she was unable to erase that image even for a second. She couldn’t figure out what state was it. Deja vu. Yes, that’s what it was. Hardly five seconds and her world had changed forever.
Who was he? Would I ever meet him again? Would I ever see that smirk again? My eyes will wait for his, I will wait for him. She promised herself.
